The city of Nara

Nara is just a short train ride from Kyoto. Its like no place we had ever been before. Basically its a quiet little city with some rather different inhabitants. The parks, streets, back alleys and anywhere you look are ruled by Deer. They are reasonably friendly if you have some of their food in hand otherwise they just cruise around doing whatever they want. Like every where in Japan there were plenty of temples, shrines, Pagodas and things that are almost older than time itself. A very cool place. Please note Deer poo is very sticky.

Fushimi Inari

While staying in Kyoto we Ventured to Fushimi Inari. Fushimi Inari is Kyotos head shrine. This place is pretty massive. The shrine grounds include a bamboo forrest, smaller shines and places of worship, statues, walking trails throughout the forrest and their famous Torri Gates (The Bright red wooden Structures) The main walking trail is lined by over a thousand Torri Gates which are all individually owned by families, with a starting price of a million Yen, I think I'll stick to just looking at them. Myself and Gabi spent about 2 hours walking through the wilderness of Fushimi Inari and were both completely blown away by being in a place that was founded in 816.
